Recreation Academy
The goal of the Recreation Academy program is to help students explore the importance of lifelong fitness and empower them to actively pursue a life-style of positive, personal wellness. By exposing students to a wide range of recreational activities in their own community and regularly scheduled information seminars at school, students are afforded many opportunities to grow in all dimensions: gaining nutritional awareness, knowledge of functional fitness and the importance of a balanced lifestyle in order to achieve optimal health.

The St. Mark's Recreation Academy was created with the aim of:
- increasing student opportunities to be physically active in unique environments outside of the school
- giving students the opportunity to explore their individual talents through activities both in and out of the school
- empowering students to take control of their own wellness by offering them wellness opportunities through a balance of activities focusing on the body, mind and spirit
Schedule:
Students who choose to be a part of the Recreation Academy will only have one additional option each week. The Recreation Academy runs year long. It occurs twice a week during option time, so no core subjects are missed.
ACADEMY STUDENT CRITERIA
- We are looking for students who are looking to have fun and be adventurous in spirit. Students should be willing to try new things and ready to work on gaining confidence, exploring their talents and acting as a leader through unique activities and opportunities.
- All activities will be offered at an introduction level with proper instruction and support being offered at all times. Students do not need to be of any particular skill-level to join and experience the benefits. This is an inclusive academy.

2025-2026 Recreation Academy Application
Completed forms can be emailed to stmark@ecsd.net. Once your form has been received, fees will be allocated to your PowerSchool account or arrangement made for the initial deposit.
Fees are outlined on the application. The total academy cost for the 2025-2026 school year is $1500. An initial deposit of $300 must accompany the application and be received before April 30, 2025. Any late applications that are accepted will require the deposit at that time. Three (3) additional payments are scheduled throughout the year.
2024-2025 Recreation Academy Budget
There is also option Rec Academy gear which can be purchased for $250 but must be paid for before any gear is given to the student. This gear order is dependent upon the number of families that choose to purchase.
